http://www.gg.rhul.ac.uk/ict4d/symposium.html
"ICT4D - the appropriate use of ICT to support poor and marginalised communities across the world; not just giving people ICT skills, but helping them use the potential of ICT to transform their lives".
The ICT4D Collective is inaugurating an annual symposium for postgraduate students, the first of which will take place at Royal Holloway, University of London on 14th and 15th September 2006. This is open to all Master's, MPhil and PhD students, and is designed above all to provide an informal environment in which postgraduates can share their research findings and ideas.
Core purposesThe symposium has three main aims:
-To encourage the sharing of research ideas and practices among postgraduate students working in the field of ICT4D
-To provide an opportunity for postgraduates at all stages in their careers to present their findings in a supportive atmosphere
-To enable postgraduate students at an early stage in their career to gain advice and suggestions from those with greater research experience
Who should attend? The symposium is open to all postgraduate students with interests in ICT4D. We are especially encouraging the participation of Master's students as well as MPhil and PhD students.
