IT for Change (ITfC) is a non-profit organisation located in India. ITfC envisions a society capable of effectively using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as a tool to further progressive social change.
We believe that the ongoing ICT for development approaches seldom transcend the efficiency parameters and fail to integrate fundamental ethical cornerstones of development like participation, access and equity. We strongly believe that changes in the current paradigm can happen only in the context of an informed debate, involving not merely the technology actors but all actors in the development arena.
In this context, we perceive our role as an intermediary to engage in debates on ICT for development and re-interpret the social and political narratives that are often sidelined, or are altogether missing.
We also go further, into the field, to demonstrate innovative ICT possibilities in actual developmental situations.
